Video Game
Here we are with the Final game of the semester, being the producer of this final game it was not an easy task getting the team together outside of class, although we were all cooperative when it comes to communication. Our game is called the “Dying Nimbus”, it was originated from the “Cloud jumper” game and made into a much finished product. This games main protagonist is created by Anthony, one of the artist of the game, he is also responsible for the sprites of the character which turned out well. The other artist is Shawn, who created the various objects in the game such as; clouds, coins, and a few more objects in the game. Our programmer Ziwen, was responsible for the game’s coding and its interface. I am also a partial artist for the game creating the monsters that in the game, it is side scroller game where the player collects coins in order to defeat the bosses (monster). The main protagonist then collects its loot in order pass to the next level. The level design was created by Anthony and each level was to correspond with the Bosses nature. This project was a very challenging task for everyone to finish, it goes all the way back, when I first started the semester and we were given a task to balance a marshmallow using pasta sticks, string, and tape. It was a test for everybody to cooperate and it was a challenging one to achieve. It has been a roller-coaster ride this whole semester, but I learned a lot in how to build a stronger team.
Tessellation and Laser cuts
Dubai In my design for the tesselation project, we compromised in using different cities from all over the world. These cities included; Dubai, Venice, New York, Tokyo, and Germany. My shapes represents the city I have chosen. First shape, was the Burj Khalifa flipped and reflected was the concept of that one design. Second design was the Burj Al Arab, where i reflected as well, increasing the size of the shape, and resembling a rocket ship. Third shape was the mosque, where a sacred place and the place for clarity and worship, those who have Muslim background. Fourth shape was the Palm Islands where i manipulated the shapes to create a new alien shape and how the islands could be rearranged in a symmetrical matter. The fifth and last was the alienated Giraffe, it is a way of the people’s transportation in Dubai, and they are still being used today.
Working in a group was challenge due to time constraints, scheduling for laser cutting time, and availability, but we manage to pull through it. Our pieces managed to tesselate and connect with each other, and having to create our own connections. The idea was to be able to connect and create the minds desire of a city and interconnect different cultures from the chosen cities and countries. The ability to create different shapes in many various ways, it is possible to achieve in this project.
Overall, our first idea was scratched and finalized with a cities cape type design, which turned out pretty smooth. Although, there was some conflict at times, our team managed to come together and make it work at the end. It is a project to be remembered, as the team that were once called the "Silver Monkey" evolving just to "Creatavision".
